Step 1: Power Down and Prep

- Flip the laptop.
- Remove the 5 fasteners using the framework screwdriver.

Step 2: Locate RAM and SSD Slot
- When the upper cover is removed, then you will see the mainboard with clearly labelled slots.
- Search for two SO-DIMM slots side-by-side.
- Located horizontally and labelled “SSD” near the edge of the mainboard.
Step 3: Upgrading the RAM
- Gently pull the metal retaining clips on the side of the current RAM stick(s).
- They”ll pop up at an angle – pull them carefully.
- Insert the new RAM at a 30-degree angle, notched aligned.
- Push them until the clips click into place.
Tips:- If you are installing two sticks, ensure they are matched pairs for dual-channel performance.
Step 4: Upgrading the SSD
- Unscrew the small retaining screw at the end of the existing SSD.
- Gently pull the SSD out of the M.2 slot.
- Insert the new SSD at a slight angle and press it flat.
- Secure it using the same screw.
Tips:- If you are cloning your old drive, do that before this step with an external USB NVMe enclosure.
Step 5: Reassemble and Boot
- Carefully place the keyboard/input cover back.
- Press around the edges to snap it back into place.
- Screw in the 5 screws on the bottom.
- Power on the laptop.
Now your framework 13 laptop will boot with new RAM and SSD. If the RAM is not detected, reseat the modules. For new SSDs, you may need to install your OS or clone your previous one.
