A recent report claims that PC hardware company NZXT’s PC rental program is a scam. A channel on youtube named Gamers Nexus in its recent video claims that NZXT changes price and parts between the purchase and rental version of PCs with same names. In their 1 hour long video, Gamers Nexus accuse NZXT’s PC rental program as a bait and switch tactic with prices and features that are constantly varying.
The flex program from NZXT is helping people by renting them a gaming PC. The main objective of this program is that people do not have to pay a high price for the machine. However, the three figure rental cost of a PC increases very fast. This would increase the price that a customer has to pay to purchase a new PC.
The Youtube channel Gamers Nexus says that NZXT changes the price and features of models regularly and sometimes on a daily basis.
This video published on the Youtube channel of the Gamers Nexus has shown a clear example of NZXT’s player. In the video the three listed PCs have NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super Graphic Cards with Intel Core i7-13700KF with the option given buy. But the same model of PC in the subscribe option showed the same processor with a less powerful NVIDIA RTX 4070 Ti.
Apart from the different GPUs, Gamers Nexus also claims that NZXT lists both the models with similar estimated frames per second in games.
The youtube channel also claims that pricing schemes of NZXT forces customers to pay more than simply buying a PC.

Gamers Nexus also accused NZXT of their subscription plan. 5 years of payment for NZXT’s subscription is 15,540$. This price is equal to an illegal, 103% interest loan.
There are several other elements regarding NZXT flex PC rental programs that are being examined and criticized by the youtube channel. This includes privacy concerns, influencers promoting flex programs and strict terms and conditions. After all this there is not surety that the specifications listed here will be available in the PC you rent.
Steve Burke who is the Chief editor of Gamers Nexus Youtube channel says in the video “We think this is a scam at this point. The performance claims alone are hugely misleading, especially since the only difference in one of these that’s meaningful is the word ‘Super’, which a lot of people especially those who are potentially renting or buying a pre-built won’t catch”.

On the allegations of Gamers Nexus, NZXT replied on their official account of X. In the statement NZXT states that, “We are aware of the recent claims made against us and are actively reviewing the situation. Rest assured we are committed to addressing this thoroughly and will share an official statement soon”.
