A Compact Surface with Big Changes
A smaller model launched by the Microsoft known as Surface Pro series. The new 12-inch Surface Pro is a compact hybrid device, combining the features of a tablet and a laptop, with a starting price of $799. It aims at users seeking a lighter, cost-effective productivity solution. In contrast to its 13-inch counterpart, this version is fan-less, offers greater portability, and features substantial design enhancements.
A Successor to Surface Go, But Smarter
This 12-inch Surface Pro by Microsoft isn’t just a downsized version; it’s a spiritual successor to the Surface Go, Microsoft’s earlier attempt at a smaller tablet. But where the Surface Go felt limited, the new Surface
Pro 12-inch seems more refined. It ditches the Surface Connect charging port, runs silently without fans, and rethinks its keyboard design for better usability.
Performance and Hardware Specs
Under the hood, Microsoft uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Plus an 8-core chip that balances performance and efficiency. Paired with 16GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, the Surface Pro 12-inch promises up to 12 hours of battery life for active web usage. A 512GB model will also be available for $899.
The Snapdragon X Plus is part of Qualcomm’s latest push to make ARM-based Windows laptops more accessible and cost-effective, without sacrificing too much performance.
Display and Build Quality
The Surface Pro 12-inch features a 12-inch LCD display with a resolution of 2196 x 1464, offering a pixel density of 220 PPI. While it doesn’t use OLED like some high-end models, it still provides crisp visuals and solid brightness for everyday use.
Accessories Sold Separately
Like other Surface devices, the keyboard is sold separately and priced at $149.99. Microsoft is expected to offer different keyboard styles and color options, though details are limited at this time.
A Fresh Take on the Surface Experience
With this update, Microsoft enhances the Surface experience in a more compact format. By reducing the hardware size and emphasizing usability, this 12-inch Surface Pro could attract students, travelers, and casual users seeking an efficient Windows device that fits their budget.
